Lack of civic sense among Indians is pushing the country backwards
न कालमतिवर्तन्ते महान्तः स्वेषु कर्मसु ।
Meaning: Great people never delay their duties.
"Whats Wrong with India" social media trend is trending all over the world and this is raising the racism against Bharat over all the world, be it South Korea, Taiwan, and other Western nations, none missed to spread the hatenesss against our benevolent Bharat. So, question arises what as a responsible citizen are we accountable for? Are we, adequately equipped with the civic sense or common sense of responsibility. There are ample things in our nation that make any Indian proud like rich cultural heritage, traditionals and rituals, beautiful landscapes, amazing seasonal variations, diversity of food and fruits, and many more. But does our nation genuinely feeling happy about it's population.
We, Love to adorn our house but never think twice before littering on the mother earth. Highly talented for conferring advises to everyone but never applying on ourselves like opposing back bitching, to be an early riser, following truthness, etc. Respecting foreign nations strict traffic rules and never following any road safety rules be it wearing seat belts, disobeying traffic lights, over speeding, overtaking etc, shockingdata from the ministry of road transport & highways (MoRTH) shows that the share of hit-and-run cases in total road accidents and deaths was 14.6% and 18.1% in 2022. These numbers were 16.8% and 11.8% in 2021. Corruptions in our Bharat is abruptly increasing as India is on 93rd rank among evaluated 180 nations, reason being is Indians serving at positions lacking the civic sense of responsibility and greeds are succumbed with the personalities over honesty and sincere needs. Other's countries beauty easily fascinates Indians but urging sincerely for the cleanliness within our locality is the hardest thing to do such as peeing near road side or at any public places., spitting the extreme mischievous task that Indians admire to commit, it's medically as well proven that spitting spreads the diseases yet such common sense traits we Indians are missing. Elderly respects are the things of past, the hook up culture and imitation of western culture has hollowed our values of respect, sadly, respect is related with ranks, position and bank balance a person carrying. Sexualing and disrespecting females is new trend and not a single gender is responsible for it, each shares equal credit for turning such shameless deeds. Bharat, once was renowned for its values, culture, traditions, humility and gratefulness, and steadily all such golden jewels India is loosing.
Why Should not Civic Sense be mere obligations?
Living without values is not at all worthy. What if our actions are hurting either living identities or the mother nature. धर्मेण हीनाः पशवः समानाः, without righteousness, human beings are just like animals. Therefore Civic Sense like respecting mother nature, other living identities, developing empathy, leading a healthy life, abiding rules and regulations are not mere obligations they are the proper way of leading a great life. Being so sensible is crucial for ourselves as well as for the nations development also. Rural India, still believes in learning Civic Senses and leading a fruitful and worthy life. Just to show-off and surviving a materialistic life is not an applauding illustrations. Enlightenment of the values and knowledge to living beings can be imbibed by several natural resources like ☀️ sun, serving selflessly and bestowing us with all the useful nutrients or ingredients required for sustaining life on the planet, rivers, despite tolerating all troubles and hardships always provides water either for drinking or producing crops, similarly other resources also.
To develop our beloved nation, learning Civic Senses are utmost important. For example Japan, people are so honest and disciplined that despite of being massively hit by the natural wrath in any way like cyclones, nuclear Bombay, reactors, volcanoes, tsunami etc., within much short span, the Japan, restores it's potential again to the bestest. Even without any arable land, no hunger day ever Japan survived.
No nation is perfect, it can be on the path of perfection and all because of the population, the nation have. Money can be eroded or can be earned if values, manners and knowledge are the attributes, the people of nation finds important.
The attitude of ‘I know everything’ is the major cause of lack of civil sense in Indians. The self-centred approach towards every action also makes it a very critical issue.
There is lack of civil sense in the Indian Youth’ would not justify our current situation and would neither improve it. We as in whole as a society are to be blamed for our state of misery. Parents, Elders, Teachers, the Education System and the Society; all should step in, adapt and embrace changes. Need of the present era is to start respecting our social diversity, respect our heritage, and appreciate and show tolerance towards differences between cultures. It's our moral duty to teach our children and upcoming generations about social issues, if not then they may not be able to take appropriate decision when confronted by that issue in society. For example: As parents and guardians of our wards, majority people’s approach towards any ill habit of our ward would be scolding or punishing them. For instance, distraction from studies, excessive gaming or use of electronic devices, initiating any bad habit (smoking, gambling etc.), the most common reaction would be scolding rather than teaching or explaining the ill effects of the action and then allow them to make a wise full decision. This allowance of decision making of the child would help them contemplate about their action in future also, they will think about their action in future without anyone to monitor them.
Conclusion - Coming to a conclusion we have to change our perception and develop empathy towards nature and society. A well-mannered sense of people show that they thinks about their actions before acting/speaking and also that whether their actions might not cause disturbance/harm to another. No one is born with good etiquettes, we ought to learn and change our mentality, and behaviour for the better of the society and for the better of us.
