When mother land of spirituality turned to materialistic area.
Covering entire nature with plastics,
Making our beautiful serenity sick,,
Green is being replaced by garbage,
With such nuisance humans are building big cage,,
Sustainability is resting in the documents,
We have forgotten that humans are only tenants,,
This is deep concerning that we, as a nation has failed to sustain our environment. Being most populous country, we are using most of the natural resources yet returning pollution and worsening the mother nature to the fullest. The country which was once renowned for its spirituality, wisdom, and rich culture heritage, nation that has taught the world to respect the nature and worshipped the natural resources like sun, moon, rivers, trees, soil etc. has now degrading that divine and once most sacred mother nature.
In total, India contributes 9.3 million tonnes of plastic pollution annually — considerably higher than other nations like Nigeria (3.5 million tonnes), Indonesia (3.4 million tonnes), and China (2.8 million tonnes), surpassing previous assessments.
The main cause is excessive dependency on single use plastic, inadequate disposal of garbage and plastics, trouble some e- waste. Then excessive burning of plastic wastes, minimum of recycling and negligible up cycling of resources. Mismanagement of natural resources and extravagant expenditures contributing maximum to the generations of plastic wastes.
Willful Negligence :-
Pity to state that new generation is running behind the social status and show offs that is diverting us from our responsibility towards soceity, planet, future generation and the supreme power. Excessive usage of items because of fake show off by our generation and all thanks to social media uplifting. People and Business enormous social exposure has forced extra purchases and thus the manufacturing. Peace, calmness and satisfaction are being replaced by money, chasing targets, running behind the dreams, extra luxury and list goes on. In the search of superficial happiness, we are loosing the genuine needs for life such as health, fresh air, drinking water, quality time, etc.
By transforming our own identity with the masks of materialistic world, we, humans have forced the beautiful nation to be painted by the wastage plastics, burned thermoplastics, open litters, thrown extra cooked food, disrespecting the things that can be used, manufacturing wastes, polluted water etc.
Beyond the imagination and Eyes opening reality check :-
India is responsible for 20 per cent (one-fifth) of the world’s plastic pollution, a study published in the journal Nature revealed.
Each year, the country burns around 5.8 million tonnes of plastic and releases an additional 3.5 million tonnes into the environment as waste, impacting land, air, and water.
The researchers classify ‘managed’ waste as plastic that is collected by municipal services and either recycled or sent to landfills, with the majority ending up in the latter. On the other hand, ‘unmanaged’ waste refers to plastic that escapes collection, becoming litter that pollutes ecosystems around the world, from Mount Everest to the Mariana Trench, or is burnt in open fires. These uncontrolled fires produce fine particulates and harmful gases, such as carbon monoxide, which are associated with serious health risks like heart disease, respiratory illnesses, cancer, and neurological disorders.
Of the unmanaged plastic waste, about 43 per cent, or 22.2 million tonnes, is unburned debris, while the remaining 29.9 million tonnes is burned, either in dumpsites or locally.
